Rondane, Norway. Annual September trip, 2023

Every year, for the last ten years, I have visited Rondane National Park for fall colors. Foliage usually peaks around september 15-20th, but there’s a slight variation from year to year, and if you’re unlucky and get an early autumn storm, everything might be gone before peak colors are reached. Mid-september may sound early for many of you, but this is at 62 deg. north and about 1000m altitude. A few years I have even had some snow on the 2000+m peaks, and that really adds to the scenery.

Conditions were marvellous this year. Foliage colors were fantastic. Little wind. A few days of overcast skies and even some rain were followed by fog and a great sunrise on my last morning there. Even a fresh dusting of snow had miraculously appeared on the highest peaks during the last night.

I have assembled a small gallery of what I believe is my best work from here this year. I am quite happy with the results, and I’m already looking forward to next year up here! Hope you like them too, feel free to drop a comment.

All images captured with Hasselblad X2D and various XCD-optics. I even used the adapted Mamiya 105-210mm for a few of these shots.
